A log cabin made from Kelo wood is surely the ultimate
Finnish sauna.
Kelo comes from forests within the Arctic Circle – the tree
grows for between 100-300 years, then dies; it remains
standing for the same period of time while all its branches
and bark fall off and its sap drains away into the ground.
The result is a super hard and dry wood, with exactly the
right properties for traditional Finnish sauna.
Kelo log cabins are unique to Finnish Lapland, where they
are hand-built by skilled craftsmen. Each cabin has its own
character, and once in place will almost certainly survive
longer than an equivalent brick structure.
The two layouts shown are examples of outdoor log cabin
layouts, however Helo can supply a cabin to suit your
specific requirements, and Kelo wood can also be used to
create an indoor sauna cabin.
